Spreading the Bay Coffee Love!
David has started his new BLOG about coffee and music (his two great passions in life) called Coffee & Strings
. On the coffee side he will talk about coffee origins and crops, discuss roasting techniques and cupping analysis of new coffee origins and blends. He will also occasionally go off on tangents and talk about the countries of origin, fair trade issues and sustainability. Combined with the odd music review here and there it will always be a fun and interesting read! Read it now at: http://baycoffee.wordpress.com/
You can also follow Bay Coffee on Twitter for up to the moment insights into the day to day goings on at Bay Coffee!
Llankelly Espresso - Potts Point
Each newsletter we will feature one of our customers who use Bay Coffee in their cafes. Today we would like to introduce Jason from Llankelly Espresso in Sydney's Potts Point. With "lane-way cafe/bar culture" starting to take off in Sydney, Llankelly Espresso is perfectly positioned in Llankelly Place, just off Darlinghurst Rd. Jason is a motorcycle enthusiast and his cafe features one of Valentino Rossi's Championship winning racing bikes and a 1930's Lambretta scooter taking pride of place in the tiny space that is Llankelly Espresso. Proudly serving Bay Coffee's Fair Trade Organic Colombia Jason says that "Bay Coffee was far and away the best coffee we tried when we were choosing our coffee supplier. Since then the service and assistance in our setup has been terrific!" Bay Coffee
is very proud to have Jason and his lovely wife Helen aboard the Bay Coffee team with their great espresso bar Llankelly Espresso!
Bay Coffee Now Fair Trade Certified
Bay Coffee has now received certification from Fair Trade and is proud to offer our new coffee blend, our single origin Honduras SHG Opatoro
. Opatoro, which is where our featured coffee has originated from, is situated approximately 70 km from El Salvador. The elevation of this coffee estate is situated between 4125 – 5280 feet. This is a very high altitude coffee so the harvest happens much later (slow growing, very hard bean) than most of Honduran coffees.
We roasted this coffee to a full city roast just before the second crack. In cupping analysis we found that the coffee displayed a rich, creamy body, with chocolate/caramels with a very balanced acidity. Pear and melon flavour notes were also apparent. In everyday language we found it to be very smooth and sweet with low acidity and a very chocolaty after-taste.
